everywoman, an all-fandoms exchange featuring female characters, has nominations 6/01-6/08, with sign-ups 6/10-6/20, and works due on 7/25. All characters who canonically identify as female (or can be reasonably interpreted as canonically female, as determined by the mods) are eligible and must be approached as female for the event. Stories must be at least 500 words. Visual art must be at least a clean sketch.

This is our sixth annual game, so you probably know the drill. (Complete 2015 rules, instructions and examples.) We've added one twist: In the event of 8 or fewer exchange sign-ups, we'll throw open the gates with a classic FKFic-L-style "challenge" game.

Prompt: How does a grifter develop genuine friendships when so much of who she appears to be is an act?
Spoilers: This takes place while Sophie's on her sabbatical to find herself during Season 2. Episode 02x04 "The Fairy Godparents Job" and episode 02x07 "The Two Live Crew Job" are specifically mentioned and dealt with in this story.
Summary: "You're the closest thing I've ever had to a real friend and I've never heard you say my real name. How sad is that?"
Author's Notes: The minute I saw this prompt, I jumped on it. I had such big plans for this story prompt, things I wanted to add in about each of the aliases we've seen or heard of, as well as each of her friendships with the women and the men in the team. And I'm actually going to follow through with them, when I have a lot more time and a lot less deadlines, so I can really do with this what I wanted to initially. There's going to be a much longer, more fleshed out version of this down the line. I just don't know when yet.

The background information and alias names that were used and/or considered came from one of the following sites :: Leverage Fan Wiki, Paradisa Wiki, Wikia [Sophie Devereaux], Wikia [Katherine Clive], & Wikia [Sophie's Real Name], as well as episode 02x04 "The Fairy Godparents Job". The name Siobhan McCairney was actually taken from an earlier fic of mine called "Reborn", though the two stories are not necessarily related.

Summary: There's something about the legacy inherent in the name of a strong person to be admired.
Author's Notes: There was another story I really wanted to try for this prompt, but I knew it wouldn't work right. It was a similar situation, but involved a long lost lover of Kathryn's, and I didn't think I would be able to adequately and properly introduce the lover in the context of the story. Plus? The prompt was about Kathryn, not Kathryn and a heretofore unknown lover of hers. That story will come somewhere down the line.

I want to do a major shout out to Watch Trek.com for having all of the Voyager episodes available, so I could re-watch Night for clarification. You can bet that site will be used in the future for any episodes I need to rewatch. Any family and background info I'd forgotten and needed on Kathryn Janeway came from Memory Alpha.

Additional inspiration on this story came from the song, I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home) by Grand Funk Railroad. The lyrics were more important when I was going to focus on "Night", but I listened to the song on repeat for the bulk of the time that I was writing this story, so they still work as an influence/inspiration.
